City Rising: Sneak Peek, 5–8pm | FREE | Stop by and see a sneak peek of our new exhibition, City Rising: San Francisco and the 1915 World’s Fair.

Cartoon Art Museum | 655 Mission @ 3rd

Year of the Sheep, 5–7pm | FREE | Join the Cartoon Art Museum as we celebrate the Lunar New Year and the beginning of the Year of the Sheep!  Festivities begin at 5 PM, including arts, crafts, and games for people of all ages.  Activities include the gifting of red envelopes and the making of paper plate goats.

Third Thursdays Live at The CJM: Jesse DeNatale, 6:30-7:30pm | $5 after 5pm | On Third Thursdays, Hardly Strictly Warren Hellman will be activated through live music, featuring bands and acts that have performed over the years during Hardly Strictly Bluegrass. Singer songwriter Jesse DeNatale is praised by poets and folk icons; Tom Waits called him “a unique and original American voice.”

Exhibitions & Film Screening, 5–8pm | FREE | View our new exhibitions The Art of Elizabeth Catlett & Marie Johnson Calloway: Legacy of Color. Join us for a screening at 6:30pm of EL BENNY, a fictionalized movie based on the life of legendary singer Benny Moré, widely considered the best singer of Cuban popular music.

Instant Love: Exhibition Reception, 5:30-7:30pm | FREE | Join us to celebrate INSTANT LOVE, an exhibition portraying moments of magic and memory through offstage sketches, snapshots and selfies from 1920-today. The show illuminates what we know of performers’ identity and the community they form.

ConVerge: Destroy//, 4–8pm | FREE | Come experience Destroy//, a performance in which dance artist Leyya Tawil asks can a dance be destroyed? Built in one day, the dancers endure a process that makes the execution increasingly impossible, forcing the material into stages of evolution and deterioration.
